 Sport is a powerful tool and can greatly impact on the way we lead our lives and Sports Colleges aim to use the power of sport to raise aspirations and achievements.In March 2009, Hirst Park Middle School was designated as a Specialist Sports College. This will mean that PE and sport will lead the way in driving, piloting and shaping innovations in teaching, learning and provision.  Enterprise forms a very important part of our emerging curriculum at Hirst Park. Over the past four years we have developed enterprise opportunities for our pupils and staff which have proved to us the value and importance of such an approach.Giving pupils a real life task to carry out which has business prospects and a financial capability inspires them to take on a more active role and develop their enterprise skills. We hope this will inspire them to fulfill their ambitions and make them more employable upon leaving school. |

 The Ashington Learning Partnership has made a major investment in the Frog Virtual Teaching and Learning Enviromnent (VTLE). | Media at Hirst Park |
 We take every opportunity to inspire and energise our students and so we began a pioneering project which involved our students in the writing, filming, editing and production of our own video material.We recently took the project a stage further when we built and equipped our own Media Suite. This allows us to have a permanent and dedicated area within the school for video production, editing as well as animation and digital graphics. The project has been a great success attracting awards and praise from media professionals and national organisations. |
