Enterprise at Hirst Park
At Hirst Park Middle School we are fully committed to delivering a skills based curriculum in order to get the best out of our learners. We endeavour to make learning real, relevant and meaningful for everyone.
By placing Enterprise at the core of what we do, we believe that our learners will develop real life skills that will help to move them forwards both academically and personally.
Ultimately this will help them to achieve the best they possibly can and make them citizens with sound reasoning and individuals that are highly employable upon leaving school.
Due to the level of commitment that our staff and the school as a whole have shown to Enterprise we were awarded the ‘Warwick CEI’ Excellence in Enterprise Award in 2009, and we continue to strive for further success in this key area of the curriculum.
At Hirst Park we consider 8 key skills that constitute Enterprise, they are:
Risk Taking.
Communication.
Negotiation.
Leadership.
A “Can Do” Attitude.
Decision Making & Problem Solving
Teamwork
Creativity
As a school we are highly committed to delivering enterprise education and we seek to do this in many different ways. These include:
Working in Partnership with outside agencies such as WEEN.
Standalone Enterprise sessions at ALPEC
Curriculum based Enterprise (Embedded into subject areas).
Our students are involved in an engineering based project at the moment in association with WEEN and IHC Engineering. There is a short video below.
